
LEAD DESIGNER
Waver is a 2D puzzle platformer where you are a medieval scientist equipped with a device of your own invention: a shrink/growth gun! Make your way to the top of your tower to stop a black hole from shrinking your world into oblivion!
I served as lead designer, making various puzzles, implementing art assets, and even some UI.

Core Gameplay
The core gameplay involves the growing and shrinking of objects, and the objects then reacting to the physics system. It was good to focus on a simple, refined mechanic, and then design the level and puzzles around it. There is also a black hole approaching from the left that adds time pressure to the puzzles. The speed of it was lowered during playtesting so that it is not too stressful while solving puzzles.

Puzzle Designs
The puzzles were a ton of fun to create, and by using Unity physics, I didn't need animations or anything rigged. Most puzzles involve growing or shrinking boxes to make jumps or continue on. Playtesting showed that players were able to figure out puzzles within 1 or 2 tries and I tried to make the difficulty curve as exponential as possible.
